Falmouth students have continued their storm of success, as both Matthew Beevor and Michael Gill have won ‘Best of Year’ commendations at the D&AD Student Awards 2013.
Formerly known as the Design & Art Direction awards, the competition draws entrants from across the globe and is widely regarded as a cornerstone on the world design circuit.
MA Creative Advertising student Matthew took a commendation in the Copywriting category for his radio campaign which answered a challenging brief set by RAB to convey the emotive potency of the radio medium.
While Michael, a BA(Hons) Graphic Design student, won ‘Best of Year’ commendation in the Applied Graphics category for his response to a Batiste brief, the creation of a trend-led graphic identity for a limited edition range of Batiste products.
Falmouth has a longstanding presence at the D&AD awards having won eight D&AD Yellow Pencils in the last six years. BA(Hons) Graphic Design Award Leader, Jon Unwin comments, “Students are actively encouraged to respond to live competition briefs and over the past seven years we’ve collected over 200 national and international student awards. This year is proving no different and we’re delighted with the recent success at the D&AD awards – it is a testament to the quality of teaching delivered by the course.”
